Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - It appears enrollment in the Rochester School District this fall is fairly stable when compared to the fall of last year.

A preliminary headcount of all of the students enrolled in the Rochester Public Schools put the total, as of September 1st, at 17,758. Total enrollment in early September of last year was reported as 17,766. The official enrollment for the previous school year, which was counted on October 1st and reported to the state for per-pupil school funding purposes, was 17,635.

Enrollment in the Rochester School District at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year fell by about 600 students when compared to the fall of 2019 when it reached a record high of about 18,300 before the start of the pandemic. The most recent enrollment projection presented to the Rochester School Board in February predicted enrollment would not rebound to the 18,000 student level until 2024.
