Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A new report from the U.S. Census shows the population of the City of Rochester grew by almost 900 people last year.

The Census estimates 112,225 people made their homes in Rochester as of July 1st of last year. The estimate from the previous year was 111,333, which means Rochester’s population grew by about 8-tenths of a percent over the 12 month period that ended last July. Since the previous Census in 2010, Rochester’s population has grown 5.1-percent, or by nearly 5500 people.

Rochester is now ranked at 250th largest city in the U.S.

The population of Minneapolis, the state’s largest city, grew by about 3700 people to almost 411,000 residents last. St. Paul added about 2600 people to push its population to just over 300,800.
