What an incredible honor for Alex! We're all rooting for you to bring home the gold!

Alex Steffl of Rochester will be representing his home state this weekend by competing on Team Minnesota in Seattle, Washington in the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games! This Saturday, June 30 more than 80 Special Olympics Minnesota athletes, Unified Partners, coaches and staff will be on their way to the west coast for a week of special events and competitions in 14 team and individual sports that begins Sunday, July 1st through Friday the 6th.

Alex, who will be competing in track & field, will start this years Olympic journey along with the thousands of other athletes on Sunday when the Opening Ceremony begins at the University of Washington's Husky Stadium.

ABC will broadcast the Opening Ceremony live starting at 2:30 p.m. Central Time.

According to the press release, Alex joined Special Olympics in 2014 playing softball. He soon joined poly hockey, track and field and basketball. "I enjoy being a part of Special Olympics Minnesota," Steffl said. "I'm looking forward to winning a gold medal at USA Games!"
