Tom Ostrom returned from his holiday hiatus and joined Andy Brownell in the KROC-AM studio Tuesday morning for the Rochester Today show.

Both Tom and Andy were laboring through the effects of colds contract during the holidays, but as is often the case, listeners calling into the show provided the spark that made for a fun and informative show.

The convening of the Republican-controlled Congress was the hot topic. Specifically, much of the discussion involved the performance of House Speaker John Boehner and his clashes with the "Tea Party" wing of the party. More conservative Republicans, Tom included, are hoping Congress will become more confrontation with President Obama and are upset with Boehner for agreeing to a trillion dollar budget package that funds the federal government until late in 2015. Ostrom theorized Boehner's aim was to thwart the ambitions of his opponents in his own party. ,
