Veteran auto mechanic Dick Zeitler joined Andy Brownell for the Rochester Today show Monday morning on KROC-AM.

We call it AutoTech 101 when Dick visits the studio and takes calls from listeners with questions about their cars. He provides tips on what a car owner can do and should not do if they hope to keep their vehicles running well and for a long time.

One of the issues that came up on Monday's program was the extraordinarily thin oil used in many newer vehicles. Dick pointed out some are rating as having a viscosity around zero, which has about the same consistency as water. He says it's important that you follow the manufacturer's recommendation for oil because the newer motors are built with razor-thin tolerances that require the ultra-thin thin oil to operate reliably and efficiently.
