Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – A Rochester woman was arrested over the weekend on felony assault charges after she bit off the tip of a man’s thumb.

Officers were called to the Essex Place Apartments early Saturday to check a report of “yelling and arguing. “

The officers noted the man “had visible injuries” and the 39-year-old was taken to St. Marys Hospital for treatment. The man also said the woman had threatened him with a butcher knife.

Arrested on 2nd and 3rd-degree assault charges was 26-year-old Edith Merrell.

Police aren’t sure what relationship the two have.
