Rochester Woman Reports Brutal Attack by Estranged Boyfriend
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man is being held on a list of felony charges connected to attacks on his estranged girlfriend.
Police Lt. Mike Sadauskis says a 40-year-old Rochester woman managed to call 911 around 6 a.m. Tuesday after spending much of the day Monday being beaten by 36-year-old Samuel Alexander Carlson. The victim told police Carlson came to her home Monday and began choking and beating her after accusing her of cheating on him.
Sadauskis says Carlson also allegedly threatened to “cut out her heart” with a knife and forced her at knifepoint to make multiple withdrawals, totaling nearly $300, from her bank account at an ATM. Following the second to visit to the ATM, they returned to the victim’s home and she was finally able to call for help after Carlson fell asleep.
When police arrived, Carlson was still sleeping and the officers found the woman suffering from black eyes and numerous other injuries. Sadauskis also noted her three children, ages 4, 9 and 10, were in the home while their mother was being assaulted.
Carlson is being held on first-degree aggravated robbery and felony assault charges.
