Routine Police Call Leads to Arrest of Rochester Shooting Suspect
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A routine call has led to the arrest of a man Rochester police have been trying to find for a few weeks as a suspect in a recent shooting.
RPD officers were called to Colonial Lanes Monday night to check on a harassment complaint. While there, they spotted the suspect and took him into custody.
A warrant was issued a few weeks ago for the arrest of 27-year-old Abdirahman Abdullahi. He is suspected of being with another man during a shooting at Meadow Park Apartments that left the victim in critical condition. The victim was shot in the head and chest while in a hallway at the apartment complex Aug. 7th.
The man who police suspect shot the victim - 26-year-old Iman Iman - was arraigned earlier on 2nd degree attempted murder and felony assault charges. Abdullahi is expected to face the same charges.
The criminal complaint says a witness told investigators he saw Iman and another man standing over the victim in the hallway and Iman was holding a gun. The witness indicated he closed the door and was calling 911 when he heard gunfire.
Police haven’t said what the motive was.
Investigators still have not been able to interview the victim.
Abdullahi was charged as a suspect in a shooting in Rochester in 2017 but the case was later dismissed.
