SE Minnesota Woman Charged with 4th DWI in Last 7 years
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Winona woman is facing a DWI charge for the fourth time in seven years.
The criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court Monday indicated the woman was pulled over on I-90 in Olmsted County after a State Trooper spotted her traveling 83 mph in a 70m mph zone. Traffic stop occurred around 9:45 p.m. on Friday.
The charges say the driver, identified as 52-year-old Brandy Gommels, was showing signs of impairment and admitted to using alcohol. She was arrested after a preliminary breath test returned a result of .145, which over the legal limit of .08.
A follow-up test at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center about an hour after the traffic stop pegged her blood-alcohol concentration at .14. Court records indicate Gommels was convicted of impaired driving offenses in 2016 and 2020 in Winona County and in 2019 in Dodge County.
Gommels had her first appearance in Olmsted County Court Monday where she was arraigned on two felony DWI charges. She was released without bail but with conditions and is due back in court in early March.
