Byron, MN (KROC AM News) - There was a large law enforcement presence in Byron Thursday afternoon while authorities searched for a wanted man.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department Captain Scott Behrns says an off-duty officer spotted the man in a vehicle in Byron around 12:30 p.m. and called 911. Responding deputies soon spotted the vehicle, and the 32-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

That prompted the Sheriff’s Department establish a perimeter and bring in a K9 officer, which was able to track the man to a relative’s home in the 900 block of 2nd Street Southwest in Byron and take him into custody about an hour later.

Captain Behrens says he was wanted on a felony motor vehicle theft warrant, and there are some indications the vehicle he was driving might have been stolen.
