Second Death in Eyota Tragedy Confirmed
Eyota, MN (KROC AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the death of a second man after a tragic incident in Eyota on Saturday.
According to Sheriff's Capt. Jim Schueller, three men were found unresponsive in a garage at a home in the 500 block of Canyon Lane NW around 1:00 a.m.
One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as 38-year-old Brandon Mueller. The other two men were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in critical condition.
Schueller identified the second victim as 43-year-old Anthony Holzer.
The condition and identity of the third man have not been released.
Authorities say the garage where the men were found was being heated by a gas furnace, however, a medical examiner ruled out carbon monoxide poisoning as a cause of death.
Schueller tells KROC News that all three men were given a dose of Narcan and one regained consciousness. Schueller says the man was incoherent but gave a “thumbs up” when asked if he had taken drugs. No evidence of drug use was found at the scene. Toxicology results are still pending.
The autopsy is taking place today (Wednesday) and the investigation is ongoing.
