Severely Injured Elderly Driver Taken To Rochester After Hwy. 14 Crash
St. Charles, MN (KROC-AM News)- An elderly driver was taken to Rochester following a single-vehicle crash in Winona County Friday.
The man was the sole occupant in the vehicle. The State Patrol responded to the crash shortly before 3 p.m. on Hwy. 14 in rural eastern St. Charles.
The state crash report says an eastbound pick-up truck crossed the westbound lane of traffic and entered the ditch on the north side of the two-lane highway. It then turned onto its side east of the Hwy. 14/Winona County Rd. 119 junction.
The driver is identified as 75-year-old Cecil Allen Hulshizer of Utica. He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with what are being described as life-threatening injuries.
Hulshizer was not buckled up and alcohol was not a factor, the report says. Hwy. 14 was described as dry at the time of the single-vehicle crash.
The Winona County Sheriff’s Office, St. Charles Ambulance, St. Charles Police Department and St. Charles Fire Department also responded to the crash.
Correction: A previous version of this story said Hulshizer was 25.
