Shooting and Stabbing: Minneapolis Sees 2 Murders in Under 24 Hours

Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News)- Police in Minneapolis are investigating two apparent homicides that happened less than 24 hours apart from each other.
The first death was attributed to a shooting. The second was the result of a stabbing, police say.
A news release issued by the Minneapolis Police Department says officers responded to reports of a shooting shortly after 7:30 p.m. Saturday at a residence in the 2200 block of East Lake St. in South Minneapolis. Responding officers encountered an unidentified male suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.
The man died at the scene despite life-saving measures. A 29-year-old woman was also hit by gunfire. She was taken to a hospital for treatment of what is being described as a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Police say bullets also hit a nearby apartment building. Officers canvassed the scene and a State Patrol Helicopter assisted investigators, however no arrests have been made.
Around 8 a.m. Sunday, officers were called to the 5200 block of Minnehaha Ave. on the report of a stabbing. Police found a 46-year-old man in the residence who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers took a 30-year-old woman into custody at the home, a news release says.
Both incidents are under investigation. The names of the victims have not been released.
