Should Rochester Regulate Short-Term Rentals?
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester City Council is exploring the possibility of regulating short-term housing rentals.
There is no consensus at this point and the ball has been handed off to city staff for now. It’s expected a working group of staff representing planning, housing, and other public agencies will look into such issues as licensing and zoning regulations.
The council gave no specific timetable on developing a report on the issue that may include proposed recommendations.
It’s estimated there are 200-300 short-term rental units in the city. They could include rental units located in condos, homes, and apartments that are rented on a daily or weekly basis.
