Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - An arrest warrant has been issued for a Rochester man who skipped a court hearing last week.

24-year-old Mohamed Abdullahi Ali was released without bail about a year ago after he and two other men were arrested and accused of attacking a man while he was walking his daughter home from school in southeast Rochester. Prosecutors later charged Ali with a felony count of second-degree riot with a dangerous weapon.

According to the criminal complaint, Rochester police responded to an apartment complex in the late afternoon of April 14, 2023 after receiving a report of an altercation involving a firearm. The officers spoke with a man who reported that he was walking his daughter home from school when a group of males approached him and commented on the music he was playing from a speaker.

It was alleged that Ali and two other men then began punching the victim in an attack that continued until he managed to run to his apartment with his daughter. The victim stated that all three men followed and were pounding and kicking on this door when he briefly opened it and saw one of the men pointing a handgun at him.

The court document says the officers learned that Ali and the two men were in another apartment unit in the complex. During a subsequent search, the charges say the officers located the handgun in a closet and discovered a bag containing nearly 500 suspected fentanyl pills.

One of the other men, 35-year-old Shueb Noor, is facing second-degree assault, second-degree riot, and second-degree drug charges in the case. It’s alleged that Noor pointed the gun at the victim and the fentanyl pills were allegedly found in his apartment.
