Southeast Minnesota Man Killed in Wisconsin Motorcycle Crash
Hager City, MN (KROC-AM News)- A southeast Minnesota motorcyclist lost his life after colliding with a car in western Wisconsin Saturday afternoon.
A news release issued by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the crash on Hwy. 63 about two miles north of Red Wing. It happened around 5:15 p.m.
The crash investigation indicates the motorcycle, operated by 58-year-old Michael Cardell of Red Wing, was traveling north on Hwy. 63 and entered the southbound lane after traffic in front of him slowed. The motorcycle was then struck by an oncoming car once it entered the opposite lane.
The collision caused Cardell to be thrown from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the news release says.
Authorities identified the driver of the car as 35-year-old Jade Helsper of Red Wing. He escaped the deadly collision without injury; however a passenger in his vehicle, identified as 34-year-old Alicia Doane of Red Wing, was taken to a Red Wing hospital with undetermined injuries.
The deadly crash closed the two-lane highway for approximately three hours Saturday evening.
