Stanford Puts an End to Gophers Season
(Columbus, OH) -- The season ended last night for the top-ranked University of Minnesota volleyball team, which lost a national semifinal match to Stanford in four sets.
The Golden Gophers were the second-seeded team in the entire tournament and lost the sixth-seed Cardinal. Minnesota bowed out in the opening game of the Final Four for the second consecutive season. The Gopher record ended at 29-and-5.
Minnesota head coach Hugh McCucheon says the team is proud of its body of work, but the end result was just short of what they wanted to accomplish.
