
State Patrol – Alcohol Involved in Fatal Pedestrian vs SUV Crash
Shakopee, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol is investigating a deadly collision involving a pedestrian on a busy highway in the Twin Cities.
The preliminary report on the fatal incident says an SUV was traveling south on Highway 169 near Shakopee around 6 AM when the driver came upon a stalled car on the right shoulder. The driver, identified as 45-year-old Nicole Rogers of Jordan, reported that she maneuvered her vehicle into the left lane and struck a pedestrian standing in the lane of traffic.

The State Patrol identified the victim as 25-year-old Firaol Abebe Merbratu of Marshall. He was pronounced dead at the scene and the crash report states that alcohol was involved on his part.

The driver of the SUV and her passenger were not hurt.
