State Patrol – Alcohol Involved in Head-On Crash Near Austin
Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - Alcohol may have contributed to a head-on crash this afternoon near Austin that resulted in both drivers being transported to hospitals for treatment.
The State Patrol says 41-year-old Brett Frank of Lyle was traveling south on Highway 218 when his car collided with a northbound vehicle driven by 53-year-old Sarah Ehret of Austin. The preliminary crash report posted by the patrol indicates alcohol involvement for the Lyle man.
The crash occurred around 12:40 p.m. north of Lyle and forced authorities to detour traffic off a section of Highway 218 between Austin and Lyle for at least 2 hours.
Ehret was transported to St. Mary's hospital, while Frank was brought to the Mayo Clinic Health Care System Hospital in Austin. The State Patrol described their injuries as non-life-threatening.
