State Patrol Reports 2 Fatal Crashes in Minnesota – 1 WX Related
Undated (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol has issued reports concerning two fatal crashes that occurred on Friday.
The first was reported in northern Minnesota around 7:20 AM and involved a piece of farm machinery. The State Patrol also noted the victim was not wearing a seatbelt. 76-year-old Kathleen Patch of Blackduck was driving on a rural highway just south of Lower Red Lake about 10 miles north of Bemidji when her car collided head-on with a pickup truck.
The State Patrol says she was following a tractor pulling a hay bale trailer and the fatal crash occurred when she apparently attempted to pass it. The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries.
The second deadly crash occurred around 2:50 PM in southwestern Minnesota. The State Patrol says a 69-year-old man from Lynd was killed when his pickup collided with a truck at the intersection of Highway 23 and Highway 59 on the southwest edge of Marshall.
The victim's name has not been released. The State Patrol says the driver of the semi was not hurt.
