Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A man currently in prison for a child pornography conviction in Waseca County was sentenced today for sexual misconduct involving a Rochester area girl and another juvenile victim in South Dakota.

31-year-old Ruben Cortez was given concurrent sentences totaling 153 months in prison for his conviction on two counts of using a minor in a sexual performance. Under the terms of his plea agreement, multiple counts of soliciting a child for sex and another child pornography-related charge were dismissed.

Both criminal cases were filed in Olmsted County Court. In one case, Cortez was accused of recording videos of himself engaging in sexual contact with a juvenile girl in the Rochester area. The other case involved the exchange of sexually explicit images and videos with a juvenile girl living in South Dakota.

According to court documents, the charges were filed against Cortez last year after a family member of one of the girls found sexually explicit images on the phone that was allegedly given to her by Cortez. The criminal complaint says Cortez was linked to the other victim through communications found on the phone given to the Olmsted County victim.
