ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Two students face felony assault charges in the beating of a Como Park High School teacher in St. Paul.

The 16-year-old students were charged Friday in juvenile court with third-degree assault in the beating of technology teacher Mark Rawlings.

The Star Tribune reports the two are not students of Rawlings. They allegedly entered the classroom when class was in session Wednesday and ignored his demands to leave.

When Rawlings tried to escort the teens out, one punched him on the chin while the second punched him in the eye. All three spilled into the hall.

The school's assistant principal told police the two entered the classroom to assault another student over a marijuana deal.

The complaint says Rawlings suffered a concussion and needed staples to close a head wound.
