Superintendent Munoz: iPads and Referendums
Rochester Public Schools Superintendent Michael Munoz stopped by the KROC-AM studio Wednesday morning for his monthly appearance on Rochester Today with Tracy McCray and Andy Brownell.
The program included an informative discussion about the use of iPads in the classroom. The Rochester School Board recently approved the purchase of about 3500 iPads to expand the school districts "One to One" Technology Initiative. The superintendent offered some examples of how the technology is used by students and teachers, and Tracy shared her personal experience. She recently visited Longfellow Elementary, which began incorporating the iPads into the classrooms a few years ago.
Munoz also spent some time talking about the school district's finances. He says some surveys will be conducted in the near future in an attempt to gauge the level of support among citizens for a possible operating levy referendum to help the district deal with some projected budget shortfalls in coming years.
