Over the past week, Rochester, Minnesota restaurants have been facing some serious difficulties.

One local business, La Mayzteca, said last week:

"many Latino-owned businesses have experienced a significant decline in sales in some cases close to 60% not because of a lack of customers, quality, or service, but because a significant portion of our community is currently afraid to leave their homes"

But it's not just the Latino-owned businesses and restaurants that are having a hard time. There are others, too.

For example, Mr. Pizza North closed their dining room early on Monday the 12th saying,

"Due to circumstances impacting our team, we’re unable to open for service this evening, so we will be closing early at 3:00pm"

I was out and about grocery shopping yesterday, and it was much, much quieter than normal around town... even at big box stores!

How to Help Our Rochester, MN Local Restaurants

Local businesses are seriously in need of our help and support right now.

So here's what I'm hoping to do: I'm hoping to inspire you to get out and support a local restaurant (or local business in general) this week and/or weekend.

That could involve:

  • going out for lunch or dinner at a locally owned restaurant.
  • If you don't want to leave your home, you could order something from a local restaurant to be delivered to you.
  • Or you could even just share this message with others and spread the word to support local.

However you're able to support a local restaurant is the perfect thing to do right now to help our community.
