Suspects in Officer Involved Shooting Arrested in Zumbrota
Zumbrota, MN (KROC-AM News) - A traffic stop by Zumbrota police early Monday morning resulted in the capture of two suspects in an officer-involved shooting that occurred Sunday in Mississippi.
A news release from the Zumbrota Police Department says the 2 men, Martrevious Sanders and Jernard Black are from Tunica, Mississippi and were traveling to Brooklyn Park when the vehicle they were in was stopped along Highway 52. They, along with Terrian Black of Brooklyn Park, were initially taken into custody for drug and firearm violations after a search of the vehicle led to the seizure of two guns and some marijuana.
A news release issued by the Tunica Police Department indicates Black is charged with attempted murder and armed robbery while Sanders is charged with aggravated assault in connection with a shooting and robbery at a convenience store Sunday morning that left an employee with multiple gunshot wounds. Officials also reported an officer responding to the shooting was confronted by two males and shot one of them after the man fired a handgun at the officer.
The wounded store clerk and shooting suspect were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
