The State Patrol’s incident report says the 16-year-old and two passengers were traveling west on Hwy. 60 when the sedan the teen was driving collided with a westbound semi-truck west of Mankato around 2 p.m. The extent of the boy’s injuries has not been released.

Investigators say it’s unknown if the boy was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. One of the passengers, a 17-year-old boy from Windom, MN, was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The report says he was buckled up.

The other passenger was not hurt. The truck driver, identified as 30-year-old Makhmud Makhmudov from Dayton, OH, was not harmed. The report says Mayo Air Ambulance was among several agencies to also respond to the crash.
