
Teenage Motorist Injured by Runaway Tire Near Chatfield
Chatfield, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol says one person was transported to St. Mary's hospital following an unusual traffic crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway 52 just south of Chatfield.
The crash report says 19-year-old Amara Nelson of Canton was driving a Jeep that collided with a tire that had come off the front driver side of a pickup truck that was headed in the opposite direction. Nelson was wearing a seatbelt and her injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
A 22-year-old man and two other 19-year-old women were in the Jeep with Nelson but they were not hurt. The State Patrol report also indicated the driver of the pickup, 18-year-old Hunter Vandyke of Chatfield, and his 20-year-old female passenger also escaped injury.
