Mendota Heights, MN (KROC AM News) - A Twin Cities teenager is the latest to die in a traffic wreck in Minnesota.

The deadly wreck occurred early Friday on a southern metro freeway.

The State Patrol says the wreck happened around 4:00 am on westbound I-494 near Pilot Knob Road in Mendota Heights. The State Patrol says the 17-year-old Oakdale girl was driving a small SUV when she left the roadway and went into a ditch. The vehicle then crashed into a guard rail, rolled onto its side and struck a pole.

The wreck affected traffic for about two hours.

The victim was identified as Naejiana Smith.
