The Garden Show: Put Down the Winterizer
Now is good time to put down winterizer fertilizer, but wait a bit before doing any dormant seeding.
Scott Moon from Sargent's on 2nd joined Andy Brownell Saturday morning for The Garden Show on KROC-AM.
Quite a few of the calls were from people with questions about late season lawn care. Scott recommended putting down the final fertilizer application of the year, and described the winterizer application is the most important of the season.
He also cautioned people wanting to take care of some seeding of their lawns in hopes of seeing good growth next Spring to wait a few weeks. Scott says it's best to wait until after the majority of the leaves have fallen because the raking can disturb the grass seed and lessen the chances of seeing a good germination rate next year.
