The charges allege that the two men fired guns at each other. The court documents say Bunch told investigators that Kelly started shooting when he went to confront him about an earlier incident during which another person suffered a broken leg. The criminal complaint also states that Kelly, when he spoke with police, claimed it was Bunch who began shooting at him.

The criminal complaint against Mayweather appears to be based on statements provided by a witness at the scene. The woman told police she was sitting in her man on the west side of Homestead Apartments facing to the east when she heard what sounded like Roman Candles being fired off. She indicated that she looked in the direction of the sound and saw a man with his arm in the air.

The court document says she described how "the male's arm would level and then rise up again coinciding with the sound of gunshots." The woman stated that she heard approximately eight shots.

She described the man as a black male wearing a long-sleeve blue shirt, who was with two other black males. About 10 minutes after the shooting occurred, the woman told the police she saw the same man exiting the Falcon Landing Apartments, however he was no longer wearing the same long-sleeved blue T-shirt.

According to the criminal complaint, video recorded by surveillance cameras located at the Falcon Landing Apartments show Kelly and Mayweather entering the building just after the shooting incident. The video shows Mayweather was wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt. It also shows both men emerging less than a minute later wearing different clothing.
