Three Fatalities on Minnesota Roads Saturday
Saturday was a deadly day on Minnesota roadways with three fatalities and two others listed in critical condition.
There was a crash involving two motorcycles around 3 o’clock in East Bethel. According to the State Patrol, both motorcycles were northbound on Highway 65 and came into contact with each other. One female passenger died at the scene, the other female passenger and one of the male drivers were flown to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, both in critical condition. The other driver was taken to Mercy Hospital with serious injuries.
There was a single car crash on Interstate 35 south of Hinckley around 6:45 pm that claimed the life of 19 year old Salena Thavie Chhum of Inver Grove Heights. The State Patrol report indicated the car she was riding in had struck the median, over corrected and rolled. The driver, a 19 year old male, was transported to a Sandstone hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The first fatality occurred earlier in the afternoon in Hampton in Dakota County. According to the State Patrol, 77 year old Fern Marty of Woodbury lost her life while heading north in the southbound lane of highway 52 near highway 50 striking a southbound car. The driver of that vehicle was taken to Regions hospital with non life threatening injuries, his passenger was not injured.
