These Are the Top Fears Keeping Minnesotans Up at Night
Everyone has fears to some extent. Some fears are more like 'I'd rather not be near a snake' versus 'I will freeze up and not be able to move if I see a snake'. See the difference?
Some fears are far more common than others, and that's what we're going to be looking at today. There's a company called MRO Electric who did some research on the most common fears in each state.

The Most Common Fears in the US
They surveyed thousands of people to determine the top fears in each state, but there were some that were clearly the most common across the board.
The study broke fears into different categories:
Classic Fears or Phobias
Halloween or Horror-Themed Fears
Societal or Current Events Fears
Across the US, the fears that took the top spots for each were:
Fear of Heights
Fear of Spiders
Fear of Running Out of Money
I think it's safe to say that if you aren't the one afraid of one of these, you know someone who is.

But how did Minnesota shape up compared to the rest of the US? Do we have the same fears here?
Minnesota's Biggest Fears and Phobias
In the Classic Fears of Phobias category, Minnesota's biggest fear is the fear of heights, just like the rest of the US.
But since so many other states also said 'fear of heights', Minnesota's second most popular response was the fear of enclosed/small spaces. Yes! I didn't realize until a few years ago that I have this fear. Elevators and places that size aren't an issue. But you know those escape rooms that are just you lying in a coffin trying to escape? Yeah, I would have a full-on panic attack.
Next, in the Halloween or Horror-Themed Fears, Minnesota's biggest fear actually isn't spiders; it's the fear of exorcisms or possessions.
And finally, in the Societal or Current Events Fears category, Minnesota's biggest fear was the same as almost every other state, which was the fear of running out of money.
But, again, since so many other states said the same, Minnesota's second most popular response was the fear of losing rights or liberties.
