Much of the eastern half of Minnesota and portions of western Wisconsin are under a tornado watch.

In southeastern Minnesota, the watch took effect around 3:30 PM and will remain in effect until 10 PM. The National Weather Service says the Rochester area and the rest of the region as a Level 3 risk of severe storms into the evening. The highest level of risk is 5.

Forecasters are predicting numerous storms could develop and those storms could produce very large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes. The best chance of severe weather is between 6 and 11 PM.

The National Weather Service is urging everyone to keep close tabs on weather conditions and be prepared to find shelter immediately if warnings become necessary.
