La Crosse, WI (KROC-AM News) - One of the two men charged with a triple homicide in western Wisconsin is on trial this week in La Crosse County Court.

35-year-old Nya Thao faces three counts of first-degree murder and a charge of illegal possession of a firearm for allegedly shooting and killing three people at a quarry just west of La Crosse in July 2021. The victims were identified as 24-year-old Peng Lor, 24-year-old Nemo Yang, and 23-year-old Trevor Maloney.

The criminal complaint against Thao indicates the three men were shot execution-style in the head and torso. Wisconsin investigators had previously indicated a $600 debt was the likely motive for the killings.

The trial is currently scheduled to run through the end of next week.

The other man charged in the case, 45-year-old Victims were found shot, execution style, in July 2021., is currently scheduled to appear in La Crosse County Court for a motion hearing next month.
