Truckers Honor Boy Killed in Wabasha County Snowmobile Accident
Theilman, MN (KROC-AM News)- Truckers throughout southeast Minnesota are honoring the 12-year-old boy who lost his life in a snowmobiling accident in Wabasha County last weekend.
The GoFundMe set up for Blaze Himle says he loved semi-trucks and wanted to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and become a truck driver. The fundraising page called on truckers to light up their rigs and share photos of their trucks on Facebook using the hashtag #lightitupforblaze and the trucking community has responded.
Local truckers are planning a trucking convoy in the Theilman area on Saturday, the day of Blaze’s funeral. One organizer of the convoy wrote, “when I planned this I figured 5-10 trucks. It sounds like it’s going to be huge. The more trucks the better.”
The organizer says the State Patrol and Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office will help with traffic during the trucker convoy.
Blaze was killed on January 8 when a snowmobile he was operating crashed into a tree on private property outside of Theilman. The GoFundMe was set up to help the family pay for funeral expenses. As of Friday morning, it has raised over $17,000.
