Twin Cities Man Killed While Assaulting Security Guard
MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (AP) — A 20-year-old man is dead after a shooting in a nightclub parking lot in Maplewood.
KSTP-TV reports a security guard tried to break up a fight between people who had been kicked out of the Stargate club at about 1:30 a.m. Friday.
Maplewood police say the group surrounded the security guard. He got away but the group pursued him.
Police say the 20-year-old and others pushed the guard to the ground and assaulted him. That's when the security guard shot the 20-year-old, who lived in St. Paul.
The man died at the hospital. The security guard had minor injuries.
WCCO-TV reports security guards for the club are hired by a private company and there are several security cameras in the parking lot.
