Two Die in Farm Silo Incident Near Minnesota-South Dakota Border
What was supposed to be a roof repair project at a Brookings County Farm in South Dakota turned tragic over the weekend as two out-of-state workers were killed after being trapped inside a silo.
According to a Facebook post from the Brookings County Sheriff's Office, just before noon Saturday (September 7), 51-year-old Larry Dalzell of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and 41-year-old Randi Vandekieft of Warner Robins, Georgia, were working to repair a damaged roof on a 80-foot silo on a farm near Volga when somehow the two became entrapped inside and were overtaken by toxic gas.
