Two Drownings in Minnesota Lakes Since Friday
Walker, MN (KROC-AM News) - There were at least two drownings in Minnesota in recent days.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office is reporting a man drowned in Leech Lake on Friday afternoon. A news release says the victim was a 68-year-old man from Pierz who was in a boat when he fell into the water while working on the boat's drain plug. Another man in the boat jumped into the water and was able to float with the victim and the boat to the shore, where an attempt to resuscitate the victim was unsuccessful. His name has not been released.
The other drowning occurred on Saturday near Alexandria. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says 59-year-old Danny Haak of Alexandria was pronounced dead after he was pulled from Lake Ida by a retired State Trooper. A news release says it's unknown how the man ended up in the lake or how long he had been in the water. Haak was found near the dock where he had launched his boat.
