Alma, WI (KROC-AM News) - For the second time this week, authorities in this region have had to mount a rescue operation involving people falling through thin ice.

The most recent incident occurred yesterday morning near Wabasha on the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi River. The Buffalo County Wisconsin Sheriff’s Office is reporting two men fish fell into the cold water near Alma. A social media post says the anglers were lucky that two deputies happened to be nearby and were able to quickly respond to a 911 call for help.

On Wednesday, the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident on Lake Zumbro, where a woman trying to rescue a dog ended up in the water along with two Rochester men who saw what had happened and came to her rescue in an ATV-like vehicle. No one was seriously harmed in either incident.
