The Minnesota Department of Transportation plans to begin construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Highway 42 and Olmsted County Road 9 just east of Rochester, which has been the site of a number of serious injury and fatal crashes in recent years. Traffic on Highway 42 will be detoured to the west on County Road 2, County Road 10 and Highway 14. Motorists who normally travel on County 9 will be detoured onto Highway 14. The $1.8 million project is scheduled to be completed in mid-July.

The project will be taking place between 3rd and 11th Avenues through July and will involve spot repairs to the bumpy concrete pavement and damaged curbs, along with the replacement of manhole covers and storm sewer grates. Traffic will be maintained on one lane in each direction through the duration of the project.
