Minneapolis (KROC AM News) - Two Wabasha County brothers have been given long prison terms for a series of violent home invasions last year involving business owners, including one that resulted in the death of a victim.

A federal judge Tuesday sentenced 34-year-old Lennie Brooks of Zumbro Falls to 30 years behind bars. His 24-year-old brother Randy Brooks of Wabasha was given a 20-year term. They have also been ordered to pay nearly $300,000 restitution.

The deadly case happened in October 2018 when the brothers broke into an Eden Prairie home at gunpoint. A 63-year-old man in the home went into cardiac arrest and neither defendant called for medical help nor allowed the victim’s wife to call 911. The brothers stole $50,000 in cash from the victims, who owned two Asian markets.

The brothers took $40,000 in cash during an earlier home invasion in Ellendale. The money was the business proceeds of the Holland Auction Company.

The third incident happened in Waite Park during which the brothers stole $180,000 in jewelry and gemstones, which belonged to a jewelry store.

Two other defendants were also given prison sentences for their roles in the crimes.
