Two Young Children Killed in Separate Accidents

HINES TOWNSHIP, Minn. (AP) — Sheriff's officials say a 6-year-old girl has died after falling off an all-terrain vehicle driven by her mother in Beltrami County.

Authorities say the child fell from the ATV on private land in Hines Township about 4 p.m. Monday. Family members and first responders tried to revive the girl, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Beltrami County sheriff's deputies and the Minnesota State Patrol are investigating.

PARK RAPIDS, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say a 1-year-old child has been struck and killed by a vehicle in Park Rapids.

Hubbard County sheriff's deputies say the child was hit by a 51-year-old man who was moving his vehicle after arriving at the youngster's home Monday night.
