MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Slick roads are being blamed for three fatalities on Minnesota roads since Sunday night.

Police say one driver died in a Ford Fusion that lost control on Highway 12 in Independence around 8 a.m. Monday. It slid across the centerline into oncoming traffic and was broadsided. West Hennepin Public Safety Chief Gary Kroells says icy conditions were a factor.

The State Patrol says a 5-year-old girl died in a rollover around 8:15 p.m. Sunday on an icy part of Interstate 35 at the Elko-New Market exit.

The Anoka County sheriff's office says a 24-year-old woman died in a crash in Fridley. She was a passenger in a vehicle that lost control, slid across the median and was hit by an oncoming SUV around 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Names have not been released.
