Word of warning for anyone over 40, take some Tylenol before you start shoveling your driveway and sidewalks.  I did a little bit of shoveling before I left for work and the snow is HEAVY!!!  Your back is going to feel it later.  #TrustMe

...and there is one area quite a few people forgot to shovel that you'll need to throw your boots on for ASAP because it is really important.

The Rochester Fire Department posted a reminder a few years ago after a huge storm hit, and thanks to Mother Nature hitting us hard, that same message rings true today.

The white stuff is really piling up out there...RFD would like to remind residents to make sure they take a little extra time to shovel out around fire hydrants when clearing snow from their driveways and sidewalks. Clear three feet in all directions from the hydrant so firefighters can quickly locate and access hydrants. Every second counts at a fire!

According to the Rochester Fire Department, three feet in all directions is vital.  This ensures that firefighters can find the fire hydrants easily in an emergency and help save lives and property.

Today, take a moment to shovel any fire hydrants that are on your property.  And if you have a few extra minutes, check the fire hydrants on the neighboring property.
