Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - The Rochester City Council has a full agenda on Monday.

The items up for discussion include a proposed ordinance that would allow so-called Transportation Network Companies like Uber to operate in Rochester. During the Committee of the Whole Meeting Monday afternoon, the Council will be studying Rochester's current taxi ordinance and an ordinance enacted by St. Paul City Council when it allowed Uber and similar companies operate in that city.

If the Council decides to pursue a similar ordinance, it's expected that a public hearing would be held next month.\

The City Council also be holding a public hearing Monday evening concerning the Miracle Mile Shopping Center redevelopment proposal. The project was recommended for approval by the Rochester Planning and Zoning Commission on a 4-3 vote last week after members of the commission delayed voting on the plan at two previous meetings.

The project covers about 3.5 acres at the shopping center property and includes a five story, 107 unit apartment building, along with a grocery store, restaurant and other commercial space.

A public hearing is also scheduled Monday evening concerning the proposed Historic Preservation Ordinance. It is an issue that has been before the Council for many years and the hearing was scheduled to gather public input on a draft ordinance that has been hammered out by members of the Historic Preservation Commission over a couple years of contentious debate.
