Minneapolis, MN (Learfield News Wire Service) - The Minnesota Vikings open their new billion-dollar home for an NFL regular season game for the first time Sunday after many months of preparations.

More than 66,000 fans are going to fill the purple seats in the US Bank Stadium as the Vikings' fierce rivals, the Green Bay Packers, hit the turf.  The Vikings’ entire season is sold out in the new downtown Minneapolis stadium.

More than 20 former Viking players have committed to be there, including nine members of the team's Hall of Fame -- along with Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton and Commissioner Roger Goodell.

The Minnesota Orchestra will put on an eight minute performance at halftime. Musical director Osmo Vanska will lead the orchestra at the 50-yard line, and they'll play classic selections plus a tribute to the late Minnesota native Prince.

Pregame festivities begin with a "Back to Football Bash" outside the stadium starting at three for those with and without tickets. Other pregame field entertainment begins at seven, about 30 minutes before the kickoff.
