
Wabasha County Teenager Rescued From Sand Hole Has Died

Kellogg, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Wabasha County teenager who was found buried in a sand hole last week has died.
An obituary posted by the Schad and Zabel Funeral Homes indicates that 14-year-old Hunter Wayne Flaxbeard died last Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital. Two days earlier, the Wabasha County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a citizen reporting that a 14-year-old boy was stuck in a sand hole and covered with sand in a rural area about 2 miles south of Kellogg.
The responding deputies began performing life-saving measures on the teenager before he was airlifted to St. Marys Hospital in critical condition. His death is being blamed on accidental asphyxiation.
According to the obituary, Hunter was an eighth-grader at St. John's Lutheran School in Lake City. His funeral is scheduled for Saturday morning at the Church of Christ in Plainview.
