Another round of school closings and delays are popping up for schools in northern Iowa and southeast Minnesota due to the forecasted snow and blizzard warning issued by the National Weather Service.  See below for the latest updates for Wednesday, March 19th, 2025.

Blizzard Warning Issued For Several Areas of Minnesota and Iowa

The rodent on Groundhog Day was correct.  6 more weeks of winter were actually ahead of us, and it is coming in full force on Wednesday, March 19th.

The National Weather Service in La Crosse shared on X that they are confident a narrow snow band of heavy snow will be dropping in different parts of Iowa and Minnesota.  Depending on where it actually lands will determine the amount of snow for Southeast Minnesota. There is a possibility that 4 to 11 inches will accumulate in the Rochester area on Wednesday.

Blizzard warnings have also been issued due to a chance of up to 55 mph wind gusts during the day on Wednesday.      

Travel in the area is not advised on Wednesday.  Due to this severe weather and the alerts being issued by the National Weather Service, several schools in the region have announced closings and delays to help ensure kids in Minnesota and Iowa stay safe.
