Well Known Classical Pianist Entertains Rochester Crowd

Parishioners and guests of a Rochester church were treated to an evening of classical music performed by a very talented pianist.

The solo concert by Horacio Lavandera was hosted by the Church of St. John the Evangelist in downtown Rochester Saturday evening.

The 33-year-old native of Argentina began playing piano at age seven and won an international competition when he was sixteen.

Lavandera played two sets that included compositions by Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert and finished the evening with a resounding rendition of Souza’s “The Stars and Stripes Forever” which was not included in his announced program sheet.

Many of those at the concert may not be aware but Lavandera is scheduled to perform at Carnegie Hall (Apr 7).

The posting shows he will perform the exact same program as Saturday’s concert. Tickets for that concert are going for $50. The St John’s concert was free (a free will offering was taken).
