What is the Weather Like on the Moon?
The 50th anniversary of the moon landing was this weekend. In honor of the anniversary, KARE 11's Sven Sundgaard gave us some really cool information about the moon's weather.
The moon's weather is way more intense than I thought it would be. Even more intense than Minnesota weather if you can believe that! The moon can hit temperatures as low as -387 degrees F when the sun isn't up. That's cold! In fact, Sven says that -459 degrees F is the temperature where molecules stop moving. When the sun is up, however, the temperature can reach 253 degrees F. And for comparison, 212 degrees F is boiling.
The days on the moon are crazy too. A day on the moon lasts a month in earth days. So there are 2 weeks of daylight and 2 weeks of darkness. Absolutely insane!
